Though we do make lateral hires, we use the Summer Associate Program as the principle method of recruiting new attorneys. We provide our summer associates with a realistic view of the practice of law. A manager is assigned to oversee the Summer Associate Program, however, our summer associates are not limited to working for specific sections. Instead, the clerks are exposed to and work in many areas at Watkins. Our summer associates are exposed to the day-to-day practices of the firm’s attorneys, including attending depositions, hearings, motions and trials. The firm also sponsors several informal social functions which helps to introduce the summer associates to all the members of the Watkins family.
